A special court in Hyderabad on 22nd July sentenced life imprisonment to a ‘tantric' under the Juvenile Justice Act, the POCSO Act 2012, and the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act 1954, for sexually assaulting and torturing a minor boy seeking help from the boy's mother.
It was very difficult for the victim's father, Yousuf, to explain the torture, abuse, and assault of his nine-year-old in 2016. He became numb on the fact that one of the two people accused in these crimes was his wife and the child’s mother, Fathima. Fatima was associated with torturing her child involving the hands of a faith healer, referred to as a ‘tantric' in the complaint. Almost four years after the complaint l, the minor child and his father Yousuf finally got justice.
On 26th September 2016, the victim's father Yousuf, who worked in Kuwait returned home and filed a complaint at the Kanchanbagh police station. He claimed that his son by sexually abused, tortured, and harassed by a tantric named Fiyaz Ansari with the help of the child's mother.
A metropolitan sessions court in Hyderabad announced 13 years of imprisonment to the 36-year-old Fathima, the child’s mother when she was found guilty in aiding and being complicit in the exploitation of her minor son by Faiyaz. Faiyaz, the 38-year-old has been given two life convictions and 10 years of imprisonment.
In the complaint, Yousuf said that he worked in Kuwait and his wife was living in Hyderabad with their son Zubair and two other daughters. He also stated that Zubair informed him about the extramarital affair of Fatima with the tantric, Faiyaz. He kept quiet because of the subsequent abuse and torture.
Faiyaz was charged under sections 307(attempt to murder), 377(unnatural offences), 342(punishment for wrongful confinement), 497(adultery), 506(criminal intimidation) of IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act. Whereas, Fathima was accused of attempt to murder, punishment for wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation.
Fiyaz had told Fathima that there were some spiritual problems between her and her son. After that, both of them started sexually torturing and abusing the boy that kept the big quiet against complaining about the duo's affair. Fiyaz reportedly attacked the boy on his back and stomach with a razor blade, strangled his throat, put hot water on his body, and kept him naked for long hours. He also used to sexually abuse the boy and asked his mother to film it.
