RSI says there is no place for Google Pay in the list of Authorized Payment System Operators published by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). While the RBI tells Delhi high court about Google Pay being a TPAP app also adds that it does not operate any payment system.

RBI has also told Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan that google pay’s operations are not in the violations of the Payment and Settlement Act of 2007.

Financial Economist Abhijit Mishra who has claimed that Goggle’s mobile payment app, Google Pay is also known as GPay was accelerating financial transactions without the authorization from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). After a (PIL) Public Interest Litigation by Abhijit, RBI’S submission came into the response.

As Google Pay was acting as a Payment system provider in violation of the Payments and Settlements App so it had no authority from the Central Bank of the country to carry out any such function said, Abhijit Mishra.

Mishra also made a statement that GPay doesn’t show up in the NPCI’s list of authorized payment Systems operators which was out on March 20, 2019.

The Reserve Bank of India has been taking strict measures for more awareness through its e-BAAT programs. They have also been doing campaigns to make people know about the safe use of digital payment modes in addition to not sharing any personal information like OTP’s or passwords. As the safety and security of the digital platforms are of utmost importance.

The Magistrate said that the matter is affecting the other third-party apps so it needs a detailed hearing which is scheduled for July 22.
