Coronavirus has proven to be the worst pandemic of the century, which is taking a toll on the world. Unemployment is on the rise as the industries are halting their operations, laying off workers, and the future is uncertain.

To combat the alarming situation and support the unemployed workers, the project to project crew and cast of not only Netflix but the entire Entertainment Industry. The Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos stated, "Most of the funds will go towards support for the hardest-hit workers on our own productions around the world. We're in the process of working out exactly what this means, production by production. This is in addition to the two weeks pay we've already committed to the crew and cast on productions we were forced to suspend last week."

Apart from supporting Netflix workers, they have created a fund of $15 million to third parties and non-profit organisations providing relief in the countries where Netflix has a large production base.

They are donating $1 million a piece to the SAG-AFTRA Covid-19 Disaster Fund, the Motion Picture and Television Fund, and the Actors Fund Emergency Assistance in the United States as well as another $1 million divided between the AFC and Foundation des Artistes.

This community has supported Netflix through the good times, and we want to help them through these hard times, especially while governments are still figuring out what economical support they will provide," Sarandos said.

"What's happening is unprecedented. We are only as strong as the people we work with, and Netflix is fortunate to be able to help those hardest hit in our industry through this challenging time."

Netflix's emergency relief fund will cater to the organisations in Europe, Latin America, and parts of Asia with large Netflix productions. They will also announce more relief funds depending on the situation by the next week.
