Google has today announced its Verified Calls feature for the android phones. With the Google Phone app, now the users will be able to identify the purpose of a call from a business. People often face the peril of spam callers and are uncertain about picking up unknown numbers. This feature will come handy with access to identify genuine calls. The verified calls will also tell you whether or not the caller is authenticated by Google and will state the reason behind them calling you.
The feature will help businesses prove themselves as legitimate and reach their customers by their brand name. It will display the caller's name, their logo, the reason for calling, and a verification symbol that will indicate the call has been verified by Google. Similar to verified accounts on social media like Instagram and Facebook, Google has now initiated to verify calls for the users.

Google's new feature, only works for the businesses that have chosen to sign up with one of Google's partners to have their calls verified. According to Google's website for these services, businesses can get access to have their calls verified by working with a partner such as Prestus, Aspect, Five9, Vonage, Bandwidth, Just call, Telecall, Zenvia, Neustar, Kaleyra, Quiubas Mobile, Datora, or IMImobile.
The call reasons will include messages like confirm transaction activity, food delivery, and flight time charges, etc. Google confirmed that it does not collect or gets access to any of your personally identifiable information after verification.

According to Google, this feature will improve answer rates, similar to verified SMS launched by the company last year. Verified Calls in the Google Phone app will first begin in the US, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and India. Google phone app will be available for non-pixel devices and it comes preloaded on many android phones. According to Google, the app will be available to download starting later this week for more android devices. Consumers can download it from PlayStore if their phones use a custom dialler.
Google has introduced this feature amid the rise of spam calls in the U.S. According to a recent report from Robokiller, U.S. consumers received 61.4 billion spam calls in 2019 which means it got increased by 28% from the prior year. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has also stated that unwanted calls are among the top complaints from its customers.
