A piece of good news came ringing in when the Supreme Court ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The apex court ordered the Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidence collected so far related to the case to CBI. The court also gave a green light to the FIR filed by Sushant's father at Patna and added that the Bihar government had the right to share the FIR to CBI.
Many celebrities including Akshay Kumar and Kangana Ranaut applauded on this decision. Akshay Kumar tweeted, "SC directs CBI to investigate Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. May the truth always prevail #Prayers” while Kangana showed her consent tweeting, "Humanity wins, congratulations to each one of SSR warriors, the first time I felt such strong force of collective consciousness, AMAZING #CBITakesOver". Many fans and celebrities had started the hashtag #CBIforSSR to ask for justice regarding the actor’s death.
Actor Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant Singh Rajput's girlfriend, had asked the Supreme court to transfer the FIR report filed by Sushant’s father against her from Patna to Mumbai. The FIR filed in Patna holds the ground for further investigation as the one filed in Mumbai police station had registered only an accidental death report. The Supreme court also said that it will be competent to any other FIR related to Sushant’s death.
Actress Rhea Chakraborty will face CBI investigation just like she did with Mumbai Police and the Enforcement Directorate. The actress said that the truth would remain the same, no matter who investigates the case.
Sushant’s family is satisfied with the decision and is waiting for the investigation to get started. Shweta Singh Kriti, Sushant’s sister stated, "Thank you, God! You have answered our prayers!! But it is just the beginning... the first step towards the truth! Full faith on CBI!! There we go!! Finally!! CBI for SSR!! Congratulations to my extended family!! So happy... the first step towards victory and unbiased investigation.”
Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai on the 14th of June. Since his death, many possible theories have unravelled taking Sushant’s death into a new direction. Previously, Sushant’s death was reported as suicidal but as different things came into perspective, the possibility of murder took the angle. The police have been investigating since then searching for new clues and sources to shed light on the case.
